For entertainment only. FLAMES is not a scientific measure of love or compatibility.
The calculator recreates the traditional paper-and-pencil game using a repeatable method.
Uppercase/lowercase differences, spaces, numbers and punctuation are ignored so the calculation focuses on letters.
Letters shared by both names are removed one-for-one. Repeated letters matter because each occurrence can cancel only one matching occurrence.
The unmatched letters left across both names become the FLAMES counting number.
Using that number, the calculator moves around the six FLAMES letters in a circle and removes one at a time until a single result remains.
If two names leave 5 unmatched letters, the calculator counts around F-L-A-M-E-S and repeatedly removes every fifth position until one category remains.
Each letter represents one playful relationship category.
A fun friendship result β easygoing, supportive and comfortable.
The classic romantic FLAMES result. Enjoy the moment, but keep it playful.
A warm, caring connection with a little extra sweetness.
The dramatic school-notebook favorite: a playful βfuture togetherβ outcome.
The spicy result. Treat it as a joke, not a warning about a real relationship.
A familiar, family-like result in the traditional FLAMES set.
A FLAMES Calculator is the online version of the classic FLAMES name game. Two names are compared, matching letters are cancelled, and the remaining count is used to narrow F-L-A-M-E-S down to one relationship category.
Unlike a random love prediction, this calculator is deterministic: the same two normalized names produce the same result. Different spellings or nicknames can change the remaining-letter count and therefore change the final category.
FLAMES is not a scientific compatibility test. It cannot measure attraction, trust, communication, values or the future of a relationship. Use it as a nostalgic game, an icebreaker or something fun to share with friends.
FLAMES returns one of six relationship categories. A Love Tester returns a percentage score. They are different entertainment tools, so you can try both without expecting the same kind of result.
Use the original LoveTester.org calculator to get a fun, consistent compatibility score by name.
FLAMES stands for Friends, Love, Affection, Marriage, Enemies and Siblings.
Matching letters in the two names are cancelled one-for-one. The unmatched letters are counted, and that number is used to repeatedly eliminate letters from F-L-A-M-E-S until one remains.
No. Because the calculation is based on the total number of unmatched letters, swapping the two names produces the same result.
Yes. This calculator is deterministic. If the normalized spelling of both names stays the same, the result stays the same.
Yes. You can use first names, nicknames or full names. Different spellings can change the result because they change which letters cancel and how many remain.
No. FLAMES is a traditional entertainment game and should not be used to make real relationship decisions.
The calculation itself runs in your browser. If you choose to share a result, the information you deliberately share is handled by the sharing method or platform you choose.
If every letter cancels and the unmatched count becomes zero, this digital version returns Friends and explains the special case. Traditional paper versions vary on how they handle a zero count.
Free, instant and just for fun.
